Coming Together As A Community
For the last few weeks the Vinton Lutheran Home has been in a friendly competition with Windsor Manor and Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab (the other two local nursing homes and assisted living communities), to see who could bring in the most canned food and nonperishable items for the local food pantry.
All together we were able to donate over 1,300 items to the food pantry. Remarkably, the Vinton Lutheran Home and Windsor Manor donated exactly 600 items each, resulting in a first place tie. The trophy that was created for this friendly competition will be shared throughout the year by the two communities.
