The residents at the Vinton Lutheran Home enjoyed participating in Vinton’s “Party in the Park” parade this year.  Party in the Park is Vinton’s annual town celebration and this year the theme for Party in the Park was “Fiesta Fest”.  The residents and tenants of the Vinton Lutheran Home Communities enjoyed riding on a float that proudly proclaimed we are “NACHO AVERAGE NURSING HOME”.  Residents and tenants who did not ride on the float watched the parade from the Lutheran Home front lawn.

The Vinton Lutheran Home staff, residents, and tenants are saddened as this is the final week of Nursing Clinicals for Kirkwood Students. For the past 1 1/2 months Kirkwood Nursing Students have performed supervised nursing duties at the Vinton Lutheran Home Campus to help prepare them for careers in the nursing field.  Their help, friendliness, and positive attitudes will be greatly missed.  We wish them the best in the future.

(Nursing is about caring for others–no matter what that may entail.  Pictured below, one of the MALE Kirkwood Nursing students paints a tenant’s nails as she gets her hair fixed.  Service with a smile!)
