December is right around the corner and residents at the Davenport and Vinton Lutheran Homes are getting excited for Christmas. The residents and staff have been busy decorating the Lutheran Home campuses and boy do they look great! Bring on the most wonderful time of the year!!

This fall has been abnormally warm with long lasting vibrant color! The Davenport Lutheran Home campus has been especially beautiful this autumn!!
Speaking of colors…the Vinton Lutheran Home was honored to have the Vinton American Legion present the flag during our Veteran’s Day Program. Each of our Veterans residing at VLH were recognized this past Friday. What an honor it is to be able to serve those who served our country

We were very excited this week to honor one of our Lutheran Home residents at the Vinton facility. Bob Baughman was rewarded the “Quilt of Valor” for his dedication and years of service in the military. A veteran must be nominated to receive this award, and it was a great honor to celebrate this special occasion with Bob.

Halloween is quickly approaching and the Lutheran Home residents have many fun activities coming up! Our staff and residents have been preparing and decorating for all the Halloween fun to come!
Vinton Residents decorated trick or treat bags this week. We will fill these bags with candy later to be passed out to the trick-or-treaters!

The weather is definitely getting cooler, and residents at the Lutheran Home Communities have mixed feelings about it. Some of our residents welcome the crisp fall air, while others are already looking forward to next summer!

Many of the Vinton residents bundled up and braved the cool air this week to watch the 2016 fall Homecoming Parade!
Sometimes, though all one wants to do during these cool autumn days is stay inside where it’s nice and cozy, as demonstrated at the Davenport Lutheran Home Assisted Living.

Our Assisted Living Tenants enjoyed “Staying Connected” during National Assisted Living Week. Each day last week was themed to the “Staying Connected” title.
Assisted Living Tenants at the Davenport Facility enjoyed musical entertainment by Zach Warm as they “stayed connected to the arts.”
Assisted Living Tenants at the Vinton Facility enjoyed a trolley ride through town as they “stayed connected to the community.”
