This week is National Assisted Living Week and our Lutheran Home AL tenants have been having a blast as they celebrate! This year the theme is “Keep Connected”. Therefore, our residents have been keeping connected with family, friends, nature, and the community! What a fun week!!
September has kicked off with loads of fun at the Lutheran Home Communities!
The Vinton residents enjoyed a traveling singing group entitled: “Papa Hoot” this week! And boy did they enjoy them!!
Although the month of August is often hot and humid, no one can deny the beauty of the summer landscaping at the Vinton and Davenport Lutheran Homes. Our residents, family members, visitors, and staff have enjoyed the beauty this week that only late summer can bring!!
Summer is dwindling, but there is still time to enjoy the gorgeous weather.
This week, residents at the Vinton facility enjoyed a trip to “Celebration Park” along Vinton’s Cedar River. New History boards were recently placed under one the Park’s pavilions. The residents enjoyed learning and reminiscing about Benton County, Vinton, and the Cedar River.
Davenport Residents have been enjoying the last days of summer around their facility. Whether they’ve been helping with summer harvests, or just enjoying the warm breeze, nothing beats the outdoors!
The Iowa State Fair is in full swing and residents at the Vinton Lutheran Home have been enjoying some fun fair activities this week. Residents participated in competitions that are actually held at the Iowa State Fair including spouse calling and fastest corn shucker! Dining services Director, Justin Ealy, also whipped up some brand new 2016 fair foods for the residents to sample!!
The summer weather has been amazing, though humid at times. Residents at both the Vinton and Davenport facilities have been enjoying activities outside…..and inside if it’s just too humid!!
The Vinton residents enjoyed their annual ice cream social this week on a perfect sunny, Sunday!! Residents had a blast with their family, friends, and the staff as they were entertained all afternoon!
The weather was hot & humid at Davenport this week so the residents enjoyed some indoor activities including a fun parachute & ball game.
August is here- and we are loving the season!
Residents at the Vinton facility enjoyed a squirt gun fight and husking sweet corn this week! The sweet corn was donated by local farmers and has been enjoyed at many resident lunches and suppers!
Residents at the Davenport facility have been relaxing during these dog days of summer. Here they are with Davenport staff members enjoying lemonade and fellowship in the Court Yard.
The bond that our residents have with our staff members is amazing. This week our staff have had some great times with the residents at the Davenport and Vinton facilities.

Summer time outings are the best! The residents at the Lutheran Home Campuses have been enjoying their summer with fun activities around their communities.
The Vinton residents got to experience the Benton County Fair this past week! The residents were loaded on to golf carts and transported to the fair grounds where they enjoyed the whole fair experience. Great memories were made!!
Summer time and the living is easy….. The residents at the Lutheran Home communities have been taking full advantage of the beautiful weather!! We love summer!!
The Davenport Lutheran Home hosted their annual ice cream social on Sunday, July 10th. This year’s Ice Cream Social was even more special than others, as Davenport Lutheran Home celebrated it’s 45th anniversary and held a ground breaking ceremony for the new Memory Care addition! Despite some rain, the event was well attended. Great fun was had by residents, staff, family, and visitors!!
