The weather is finally seasonal and residents at our Lutheran Home campuses couldn’t be more excited. This week the Vinton Lutheran Home residents participated in a “Balloon Lift Off to Spring” on a gorgeous sunny afternoon!

Spring-like weather has to be here soon, right!? Well, the Lutheran Home residents and tenants are tired of waiting! This week Vinton residents created their own flowers, since the weather has been far too cold and snowy for any to actually grow!!

This week is Volunteer Appreciation Week. The Lutheran Home Communities held a Volunteer Tea to recognize the wonderful volunteers that we are blessed to have.

Although it’s April, this Iowa weather sure isn’t any warmer! Residents at the Lutheran Home Communities are ready to get outdoors, and can’t wait for the weather to warm up! Until then, though, they’ve been enjoying fun indoor activities, including bingo–a definite favorite!

Staff of the Vinton Lutheran Home had a wonderful time last Friday evening putting on the fundraising event: “A Night in Rome at The Lutheran Home.” The public was invited to a delicious meal featuring steak, shrimp, roasted vegetables, and tiramisu. The facility was decorated with Roman décor, gladiator games were played, and gorgeous door prizes were given away. VLH residents who wished to join their friends and/or family at the event could do so free of charge. A wonderful night was had by all!

The Davenport Lutheran Home underwent their Annual State Survey this week. State surveyors were present in the facility ensuring that everything from cleanliness, to nursing care, to dining services were in compliance. A HUGE congratulations goes out to each and every staff member as the survey went extremely well! Our residents and tenants are blessed to live in such a loving Christian home with wonderful people caring for them on a daily basis. Congratulations Davenport Lutheran Home!!

This week, Vinton Lutheran Home staff, residents, families, and friends gathered together to celebrate the legacy of Pam Woolison’s career. Pam worked at the Vinton Lutheran Home for 36 years and is the embodiment of the Quality Christian Care that we provide to those entrusted to our care. Congratulations Pam!
