Employees at the Vinton and Davenport Lutheran Homes enjoyed staff Christmas parties this past week. Our communities enjoy honoring the staff members who work so diligently year round to ensure the health and happiness of our residents, tenants, and clients. Plenty of food, games, and Christmas Cheer was enjoyed!
Staff members of the Vinton Lutheran Home were honored to help the residents celebrate Christmas with their families last week. A delicious Christmas meal of prime rib, bone in ham, and all the fixings was served and wonderful Holiday memories were made!
The Davenport Lutheran Home Residents thoroughly enjoyed their annual Resident Family Christmas Party last night!! Families and friends came to join their loved ones, as the staff served a delicious meal for all to enjoy! The Lutheran Home Communities understand the importance of this time of year and are honored to provide our residents and their family a beautiful Christmas Party that they won’t soon forget!!
This week, the management team from the Vinton Lutheran Home, took turns, in groups of two, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. It was cold outside, but it sure warmed our hearts to see the generosity of everyone in the community.
Yes, Christmas is coming, and we are looking forward to celebrating the true meaning of Christmas….but let us not forget about Thanksgiving and the importance this holiday carries with it, as well.
We all have so much to be thankful for at the Vinton and Davenport Lutheran Homes. We are thankful that we are able to provide a continuum of care to our residents and tenants, so that they, and their families do not have to worry about what is going to happen to them when they reach the next stage of the aging process. We provide every service, so that the transition may be smooth and seamless.
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on things that we are thankful for, but also a time to be thankful that we are able to provide and do things for others.

In honor of Veteran’s Day, the Vinton and Davenport Lutheran Homes honored the Veterans who reside in their communities with special programs on Friday. We are blessed to live in the United States of America and thank these brave men and women who protected our freedom. 
Today is the day after election day!! At the Lutheran Home Communities, we are proud to help our residents exercise their American right to vote. Pictured below is Davenport Lutheran Home resident, Alberta Woods who turns 101 years old next month. Alberta has not voted in ALL of the local elections over the years, but she has voted in every single Presidential election since she was 21 years old. Thank you for voting Alberta, every vote counts!!
The Lutheran Home Communities have had a blast celebrating Halloween this week! The Vinton Lutheran Home hosted a Halloween Ball Monday evening and enjoyed Vinton Shellsburg elementary students’ Halloween parade today! Staff and residents have loved dressing up and having fun!

This week is National Dining Services Week. The Davenport and Vinton Communities are extremely blessed with wonderful Dining Services teams that truly care about the residents and the meals they prepare for them.
