Diane Gloede C.O.O. of the Davenport and Vinton Lutheran Home Communities was honored last Thursday with a surprise recognition for her 40 years of service to the Lutheran Homes. Board members from both communities along with employees, residents, and Diane’s family gathered to celebrate her dedication and accomplishments. Congratulations Diane!!

This past weekend, the residents, families, and public, took part in the annual Vinton Lutheran Home Ice Cream Social. Our biggest fundraiser of the year was a huge success, thanks in large part to the staff, volunteers, family members, and of course, the beautiful weather didn’t hurt either.

This week, the residents at the Vinton Lutheran Home enjoyed cruising through the fairgrounds as the Benton County Fair was going on.

Recently, the Davenport Lutheran Home residents took a cruise on the Celebration Belle riverboat. As usual, a good time was had by all.
Meanwhile, at the Vinton Lutheran Home, residents watched and rode in the annual Party in the Park Parade. This year’s them was “Celebrating Vinton’s Volunteers.”

This week the Vinton Lutheran Home residents took advantage of the warm weather and enjoyed a picnic on the patio. Some even had some familiar guests visit them during the picnic.

As you know, Father’s Day is coming up, (Sunday, June 17th). This past week, the Vinton Lutheran Home celebrated all of the fathers with their Father/Son Night. The guys and their sons enjoyed a nice picnic-type meal, complete with a S’mores dessert. The Benton County Naturalists came and shared some very interesting facts and stories about bison.

Today the first drive thru of the year took place at the Vinton Lutheran home, and was extremely successful. The drive thru is Vinton’s annual summer fund raiser, and this year proceeds will go toward new wheelchairs for the whole facility.
