Spring has sprung, and with it the residents and staff of the Lutheran Home Communities have enjoyed many annual spring activities!

 

This past week was National Volunteer Appreciation Week.  Vinton and Davenport honored their volunteers with a special Volunteer Appreciation Event.  Each volunteer was presented with a certificate, gift, and special luncheon.

 

Easter Sunday was another annual spring celebration that occurred this past week.  The chapels at the Davenport and Vinton Lutheran Homes were full of residents, staff, and visitors celebrating the risen Christ.  For the first time this week, Davenport residents got to enjoy beautiful new flower arrangements in the chapel–just in time for Easter!

This week at the Lutheran Home Communities, the residents are having a blast preparing for and celebrating Easter.  Between coloring eggs, rolling eggs, and finding eggs, it has been one egg-cellent week!

 

During the Lenten season, residents of the Lutheran Home Communities celebrate the holiest time of the year in various ways.  Pictured below, Pastor Schmidt distributes Holy Communion to Vinton Lutheran Home residents in the days leading up to Holy Week.

 

Our residents have greatly enjoyed some fun art work at both Davenport and the Vinton Lutheran Home this spring! 

The Vinton and Davenport Lutheran Home Communities enjoyed a week of fun and celebration, commencing with St. Patrick’s Day parties at both communities.  Even the staff joined in some of the festivities!

Many of our residents have an Irish heritage, and especially seem to enjoy the month of March.  But even if our residents don’t have Irish blood, they are still invited to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day…..which we’ve been doing all month long!!

There was a lot of celebrating this past week at the Lutheran Home Communities.  The Davenport Lutheran Home had a luau this week, because who wouldn’t want to think about the warm sunshine in late February?  Both Davenport and Vinton celebrated Mardi Gras, complete with masks, beads, a feast, and of course a parade!

We had several great celebrations this week at the Lutheran Home Communities!  Davenport residents thoroughly enjoyed the Sweetheart Luncheon and the crowning of the Valentine’s King and Queen.

Valentine’s Day is always a special day of the year.  Residents at the Lutheran Home Communities spent time making their loved ones feel special this year in various ways.

 

At the Davenport Lutheran Home residents made and sent valentines to their loved ones! Residents at the Vinton Lutheran Home had a special meal on Valentine’s Day with their sweethearts!
