February is here but those cold winter days aren’t over yet! Even though the weather isn’t the best, residents at the Lutheran Home Communities are still having fun!
Vinton residents, with special help from volunteers, create snowmen during an afternoon of crafting!

When the weather outside is frightful, nothing is better for the soul than crafts and soup!
At the Davenport Lutheran Home residents enjoyed “Painting with Joyce” this week. Local volunteers spent an afternoon helping the residents create their own painting masterpiece.
At the Vinton and Davenport facilities a winter fundraiser titled “Soup for the soul in a bucket or bowl” has begun. Throughout the winter season, homemade soups will be sold at the Davenport Lutheran Home each Tuesday from 11:00am-2:00pm. Homemade soups will be sold at the Vinton Lutheran Home each Wednesday from 11:0am-2:00pm. Soups may be purchased in a bowl for $4.00 or in a freezable bucket for $16.00. All proceeds will go toward life enhancements for the residents.

The residents at the Lutheran Home Communities have stayed warm this week, despite the icy weather.
January is National Hot Tea Month and residents at the Vinton facility stayed toasty as they attended an afternoon tea party.
Residents at the Davenport facility warmed up by moving their bodies this week. They had a blast ribbon dancing together!!

We’ve enjoyed some fun activities this week on the Lutheran Home Campuses! The residents at the Davenport Lutheran Home greatly enjoyed “Karaoke with Alvin!” Singing and dancing are always good for the soul!
The residents at the Vinton facility had a blast celebrating Epiphany last Friday! They enjoyed a Christmas Gift Exchange in honor of the gifts presented to the Christ Child by the 3 Wisemen.

The holidays are over, but that doesn’t mean the fun stops on the Lutheran Home Campuses!
This week the Davenport residents enjoyed a competitive game of bean bag toss, while the Vinton residents enjoyed special musical entertainment put on by David and Sue Gates.

Each year everyone at the Davenport Lutheran Home gets in on the fun at the Reindeer Party…including Santa! This year staff and residents enjoyed opening their gifts and celebrating Christmas together as one big happy family!

This week at the Lutheran Home Communities, a lot of hard of work was finally showcased. At the Davenport Lutheran Home, the construction crew has continued working through the bitter cold. The following pictures show just how far they’ve come.
At the Vinton Lutheran Home, the annual Christmas Pageant was presented. Residents worked for weeks to perfect “The Very First Christmas.” Staff, family, and other residents attended this year’s rendition of the play. It was a great reminder of the true meaning of Christmas!

The Lutheran Home Community Christmas Parties are all “wrapped” up. And what a terrific couple of weeks it has been. The Lutheran Home staff greatly enjoyed celebrating the birth of Christ with the residents and their loved ones. It truly is “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”

The Christmas Parties have begun at the Vinton and Davenport Lutheran Home. This week Vinton hosted the Assisted Living Christmas Party along with the Memory Care Christmas Party. A beautiful meal of Prime Rib, Bone in ham, Dinner salad, Waldorf Salad, Mashed Potatoes and gravy, Sweet potatoes, Green bean casserole, Buttered Corn, Dinner Rolls, French Silk Pie, and Salted caramel cheesecake was served.
A wonderful time was had by all!!
